vRealize Automation Installation – Troubleshooting

VMware 0 Comments

Today I was experimenting with the manual installation process of vRealize Automation, which is used during a distributed deployment.

The IaaS installer is used to install different components of the vRealize Automation platform in this mode. The image below, show different separate components for HA deployment.

I got some error during the installation process that I wanted to document here if that can help someone.

1 – During the Model Manager Data component registration using Vcac-Config.exe, you can get this kind of error on the log file

System.Data.Services.Client.DataServiceTransportException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. --->

Apparently, a Certificate Name Mismatch was the cause of this error, I was was able to resolve it by selecting Suppress certificate mismatch during the installation.

2- The database configuration require a passphrase to encrypt data while on rest, remembrer, it’s a passphrase, which is a series of words, not a single word.

Error : 2016-04-25 10 00 12 044 AM :C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vCAC\Server\ConfigTool\EncryptionKeyTool\DynamicOps.Tools.EncryptionKeyTool.exe
Error : 2016-04-25 10 00 12 044 AM :Error: Encrypting passphrase failed.

In my case I was able to bypass this error using multiple word in my passphrase.

3- When using the installation wizard, I got the following error.

vra vami /usr/lib/vcac/agent/va-agent.py: info Importing ASD blueprint...
vra vami /usr/lib/vcac/agent/va-agent.py: info Importing ASD blueprint failed.

This is for the initial content creation which can be ignored.

In my case, I was using the VMware vRealize Business 7 Standard licence key, adding a vCloud Suite Enterprise key resolved my problem (Thanks to andreir from VMTN)

4- On the step involving the installation of the IaaS Website Component, I got the following error

Failed to resolve host:iaas.lab.local

I checked my DNS records for all the components in my vRA deployment, everything was Ok, even the vRA appliance DNS configuration, but when trying an nslookup from the command line, I was unable to resolve anything!!

The thing here is that I have configured the networking manually, and on the DNS steps, I only specified a single server, which resulted in an /etc/resolve.conf with two line:

nameserver
nameserver 192.168.60.60
....

If you try an nslookup, you get

...parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed

Removing the first line allowed me to resolve the problem and continue the vRA installation Wizard.

Hope This can Help!
